Albania - Tirana weather forecast
Visitors to Albania love its placid Mediterranean climate. It never gets too cold, especially in the lowlands. The Ionian Coast is by far the most popular destination with the average temperature in winter being 8-10ºC - cool but not biting cold. The capital city Tirana and the other inland cities experience freezing temperatures at night during winter with the mercury dipping below 0ºC. Snow and ice are common but generally don't last for long. Albania averages approximately 300 sunny days in a year. Rainy days in summer are not uncommon, with drizzles starting after late autumn and continuing into early spring. In the non-mountainous areas, summer rains are a rarity. During the summer season the inland towns of Albania are quite sultry, with the month of July being quite stifling. Tirana experiences temperatures close to 40ºC. However, tourists need not worry as most hotels and eateries switch on their air-conditioning. Still, if you were in Albania in midsummer, the ideal place to be would be close to the seacoast where temperatures are at a bearable 25-30ºC, or in the mountains where you could enjoy a pleasant stay.
If you can afford to pick and choose the time of your vacation, then plan your visit to Albania in spring or fall. Both the seasons will fill your senses with vibrant colours.Autumn brings you persimmons all ablaze in orange glory and citrus fruits with their soothing tones ranging from a mild yellow to warm orange. Spring in Albania treats you to pastel-toned shades of apple and cherry blossoms. If you want to enjoy swimming in Albanian waters, then September and October spent on the southern coast would be a good idea. Evenings spent exploring the terrace and sidewalk cafes in Albania will also be a very enjoyable experience, especially in spring.
