Tourism in Albania is lead by the Outdoor Albania Association. The Outdoor Albania Association was founded in 2005 as a nonprofit organization. Realizing amazing touristic capacity of Albania our goal is to assist in developing responsible tourism in Albania. The main focus of our projects is to preserve and protect the natural and cultural assets of Albania. Our first and one of our biggest projects has been restoring the school in the village of Vuno. All the profit from sales of accommodations will go to the Outdoor Albanian Association with the revenue going back in our projects.

About Outdoor Albania:

Outdoor Albania has started bringing tourists to the most remote areas of Albania in the early 90s. Throughout the years they have been cooperating closely with the people of Albania; educating the owners of the guesthouses and little hotels on the importance of the sustainable tourism. About the projects of the Outdoor Albania association:

Vuno is a small and very beautiful village of the Albanian Rivera. It is located between Dhermi and Himare. It has around 200 houses made of cobble stone, narrow streets and beautiful surroundings of olive trees. However, very few families (mostly elderly people) live there year round. The only school in Vuno was destroyed. We have brought volunteers to clean this school from garbage and to rebuild it again. Today it is a functioning school that turns into a hostel for the summer. This project has also become an inspiration for the neighboring village of Dhermi.

Inhabitants of Dhermi have asked us to repeat the project with their school. With help of the Swiss University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil we are going to implement this project on a bigger scale of development. It will go internationally attracting volunteers from the neighboring countries of Kosovo and Montenegro. Several workshops will be organized to teach young people on how to work with the cobble stone and repair the buildings. Our team is constantly looking for new ideas and people to help Albanian communities.
